Valerie Akins is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with more than 12 years of nursing experience providing compassionate, evidence-based care to patients across a variety of healthcare settings. Her clinical background includes primary care, medical-surgical nursing, long-term acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing, public health, and nursing education, giving her a well-rounded perspective on caring for individuals throughout every stage of their healthcare journey.
As a Family Nurse Practitioner, Valerie is committed to partnering with patients to achieve better health through preventive care, early detection, chronic disease management, and personalized treatment plans. She believes that every patient deserves to be heard, respected, and actively involved in decisions about their care. Her approach emphasizes education, open communication, and empowering patients to make informed choices that support long-term wellness.
Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Valerie built a strong clinical foundation as a registered nurse in diverse healthcare environments and served as an Adjunct Clinical Instructor, mentoring and preparing future nurses for professional practice. These experiences strengthened her passion for lifelong learning, collaboration, and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
Valerie earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Christ Hospital School of Nursing and Health Sciences and her Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner, from Northern Kentucky University. She is a licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Ohio and is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC).

Latonya Key is an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse with more than 20 years of comprehensive healthcare experience across a wide range of clinical settings. She currently serves as an Inpatient Case Manager at a local hospital where she specializes in coordinating patient care, discharge planning, and ensuring safe transitions across care environments.
Latonya’s clinical background is extensive and includes medical-surgical nursing, dialysis, case and care management, home health, long-term care, and both pediatric and adult psychiatry. Her diverse experience allows her to approach patient care holistically, with a strong emphasis on improving outcomes, supporting vulnerable populations, and ensuring access to appropriate resources—particularly for the elderly.
She earned her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a focus on Nursing Education from the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing, complementing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN). Her academic foundation, combined with her real-world clinical expertise, positions her as both a skilled clinician and an effective educator.
In addition to her clinical work, Latonya is deeply committed to teaching and mentorship. She served as a preceptor for new nurses and case managers. She also has experience serving as a certified CPR/BLS instructor, delivering life-saving education to healthcare professionals and the community.
Latonya is an active member of the Ohio Nurses Association and the Black Nurses Association of Greater Cincinnati, serving as Secretary and demonstrating her commitment to professional development and advancing nursing practice.
Known for her leadership, compassion, and commitment to excellence, Latonya continues to make a meaningful impact in healthcare through patient advocacy, education, and coordinated care delivery.
